DOUBLE DANG

It has been forever since I have done this so let me try and fill you in. Right now we are in Week 10 which is the last week of campers. I am ready to come back home and start school and relax. This summer has been great but really tiring. It has been really tiring this week especially. I think all of the summer has just been catching up with me. I am trying to finish up all Camp videos, pictures and DVDs. It is quite a little job and really want to get it all done before I leave. Landon, Foster and Sterling have been here this week and that has been good. It was awesome to see them and pick them up at the airport. We are planning on going to see the Mummy Wednesday night before we fly out on Thursday. The summer has been great and long. A great experience.

SATURDAY NEWS

Saturday is here and the little kids are still doing well. We had a sweet olympics party last night. This week has been good. I have been really tired. Probably from the long night we had from the concert. I have CTO today which is where our small group gets to go into town and eat lunch. I am excited about it. I also get my last 24 off today. I will be off from Saturday at 6 to Sunday at 6. A couple people and I will be going to Fort Collins which is about an hour away to just relax and hang out. I will going rafting again on Sunday morning which I am looking forward to. I have been in the office all day working on videos and putting up pictures so if you get any free time check them out. I have almost 100 videos up on youtube now. Hope you have a great day!!!

Miss you all!!!

3 Weeks to GO

So I am here still in CO with 3 weeks to go. I am getting burned out with work and people. God is still good. I met some really cool kids over the last couple teen weeks and hope to stay in touch with them. One lives in AZ, one in TX, and one in TN. The experience here has been great. I have had the opportunity to meet incredible people and do some amazing things. God has taught me patience and perseverance. I have learned to actually talk things out instead of hold them in. I haven't taken that many pictures lately just because I have been behind on videos. I plan on taking some tomorrow because me and some friends are going to a concert in Denver. Landon, Foster, and Sterling are coming week 10 from Greenville so I am really excited about that. Please pray for strength and understanding as I finish up the rest of the summer.

LONG LONG LONG TIME

So it has been so long since I have posted something. Partly because I have been busy and partly because I have been lazy. I get so tired. The days are really long. I am not sure when the last post was but I have done many things since then. I went rafting on the Pouder in Fort Collins. It was fun. Our 2nd term staff arrived and made it out to be a great transition. We had our infamous GLO party Friday night. I have put tons of pictures and videos up on flickr and youtube. Every Saturday night we have cabin skits. Last night I could have possibly witnessed the best skit ever out of my 21 years of life. It is up on youtube.

This Wednesday I am going to go see Jon Mclaughlin in Denver. It has been a great summer so far and I am excited about the rest. I promise I will do better and start posting more.

THE 4TH

Last night for the fourth we went down into Estes and chilled at the park. We ate dinner down there and just played with all of the kids. The fireworks were gorgeous. The weather was good. I got some good pictures. It was a great night and day!!!
THE CRACK

So in between camps on Wednesday night we went into town and ate some diner. We were planning on going to a rodeo in Greeley which is an hour away but no one really wanted to go. After dinner we went and hiked and climbed this thing called "the crack." They call it that because it is literally a crack that you have to maneuver your way through. If you are not a fan of tight dark spaces then it would not be a good idea for you. The beginning of the crack you have to somehow get up a very steep 8 ft wall and then turn right around and do the same thing up another wall. Then you have to slide in the beginning of the crack using your hands and knees trying not to fall over 25 ft. When I tried the first time, I got up the first and second wall fine but at the top of the second wall I couldn't quite turn around and slide into the beginning of the crack like I was suppose to, so I ended up having to come down. I felt pretty bummed because I was one of the only ones that didn't do it. So after the other 5 people with me finished we ended up summiting to the top of the crack which was awesome. We were doing most of this as it was getting dark. Once we arrived to the very top we sat down and just watched the sunset, talked, and relaxed. On the descent back down Aaron which is the assistant director here at camp talked me in to doing the crack a different way. We started at "santas' portal" which is just the top part of where I couldn't slide my body into. I was successful in doing the crack. I was really happy that I did it but even more happy that I did it in the dark. It was one of the scariest and hardest things I have ever done. I will be putting up some pictures soon.

MONDAY SCHEDULE

So here is my schedule from Monday.

2:00am Wake up
2:30am Breakfast
2:45am Leave for Sunrise of Twin Sisters
3:10am Started the ascent up to the top of Twin Sisters
5:10am Arrived at the top of Twin Sisters and waited for the sun to rise
5:30am The sun rose and I was able to witness a glorious viewing of God's creation
8:00am Arrived back at the vans and headed back to camp for some more breakfast (baked oatmeal and strawberries)

At breakfast I decided to go on yet another hike. It was probably not the wisest decision considering that Twins was 7.4 miles. I decided to go hike Sandy beach which was a total of 9 miles. Its name stays true to its site. Once you arrive to the "sandy beach" it is gorgeous. My buddy Jess was on the hike and was steadily encouraging me considering I had been up since 2am and already hiked 7.4 miles. I had to drink plenty of water and stay energized by eating bars and fruit. The hike was great because I was able to spend time with Jess because he is leaving today for a week to go backpacking with the Beyond Timberline director. They will be in the continental divide eating cheese and crackers and rations for a week. Today I am finding myself very sore. My decisions were very worthwhile considering some shots that I was able to capture. I took 411 photos alone on the sunrise hike. I hope you guys are able to experience to at least some degree what I was yesterday. Hope you all have a great week!!!

EXCITING

I am really pumped up for 2 reasons. One because we will be leaving at 3 am to sunrise hike the mountains above, "Twin Sisters." It is the first sunrise hike we are going to do since I have been here. We have to wake up at 2. Sunrise is suppose to be at 5:30, so we have to make sure that we make the 2 and half hour hike on time. I am pumped number 2 because we had a really good roundup service tonight. We started doing this think called TREK for the teens which stands for The Real Experience of Kids. It has been very powerful every night we have had roundup so far. So needless to say this week has been great. I have constantly found myself reflecting on a song by Eddie Kirkland called "How He Loves." I want to share some lyrics with you because there have been so many things that have reminded me out here in Colorado of just how much he loves us. Hope you all have a great week!!!

We are His portion and He is our prize
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes
If His grace is an ocean we're all sinking
And heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest
I don;t have time to maintain these regrets
When I think about the way

That He loves us
Oh how He loves us
Oh how He loves us
Oh how He loves us

FOREVER

It has been forever since I have posted so I will try my best to fill you in. I have been busy making videos and taking pictures. This week (week 4) we have the first group of teens here. It has been good to get some older individuals here. They don't have to ask when they can go to the bathroom and "can you please tie my shoe." I have put some videos from camp up on youtube. So feel free to check them out. Last night for our weekly party we went down to Estes to have a Timberline Idol party. I shaved my head to try and look like Chris Daughtry. Judging from the crowds reactions I succeeded. It was one big fun dance party.

BEEN A WHILE

So it has been a while since I have posted ANYTHING, but a lot has happened. We are now in week 2 with the kids actually being here. Whenever the kids arrive we do a big opening day celebration. On both of the opening days that we have had it has snowed. Just to let you know it is summer in Colorado. The camp is at the base of Long's Peak which is a 14,000+ mountain. I plan on climbing it before I come back home but we shall see. The past 3 days the weather has been incredible. Yesterday I went down with the golf guys to get some footage and pictures. The course was absolutely gorgeous. Hopefully all of you guys back in NC are staying cool. Miss you guys!!!!

BOULDER BOLDER

Showing off my speed in Boulder, CO.

GLORY

Monday night we were having an incredible campfire. A huge storm rolled in on us and we had the chance to see some incredible lightning above the mountains. I tried my best to try and capture the moment. The picture above is that. Hope you all have a great day!!!!

DAYS OFF

Sunday after church was over we had off until Monday at 4 pm. A couple of people including myself decided to drive to Boulder and experience Pearl St. Pearl St. is supposedly where its all at in Boulder. Luckily they were having some festival and a 10k run on Monday that 53,000 runners would be participating in. We shopped around in some pretty sweet stores (Urban Outfitters, American Apparel) and ate at a place called Illegal Pete's. It is a burrito place like Moe's. After we ate we walked to Colorado University and checked out the campus. It was nice out so we tried sneaking into the football stadium but was unsuccessful. We chilled on campus for about 2 hours enjoying the weather and threw the frisbee around. The most exciting thing of the day is that I clocked 20 mph on the speed limit sign things right outside of the university. Evidence will be posted soon. Monday we had breakfast at a local bagel shop and did laundry. We had a tee time at 12:48 at a local 9 hole golf course. Three of us went and played. It was rainy and wet but really fun. Elk were all over the course and tearing up the greens. It was fun because when you tee off you could possibly hit one. We didn't hit one but we tried chasing them. I had to rent clubs. All the new staff arrived today and we did orientation stuff after we had a big worship and fun time gathering in the "Party Barn." Miss you guys!!!

IN DENVER

So I am in downtown Estes Park sitting outside of the local public library bumming off of some free wireless. I got to camp Sunday night and have been busy ever since. Monday we worked at camp getting everything ready for all the little campers to come. The property is so gorgeous. It is surrounded by three mountain peaks that I hope to climb before my return home. I put a video up so you can see some of the crazy people who are here working and what we have been doing over the last couple of days. I will be putting up some pictures so that you can hopefully experience the beauty.

LIVING FOR OTHERS

I landed at Denver International Airport around 1:15 Colorado time. I am having to kill time waiting for my shuttle pickup at 7. I have been jamming out to some Hillsong UNITED and Usher just trying to pass the time. I have been thinking a lot about the summer which is ahead of me. Knowing that I will be in a gorgeous place created by GOD alone. I am trying to get in the mindset of serving others. This I HEART REVOLUTION trailer helps me get to that place where serving others is a command and not a leisure. May you be encouraged.
